Company History
Ferruccio Lamborghini made a fortune by
building tractors from the army left by Allied Forces in 1945. He
built his business of tractors. His second business also made a lot of
money.
When his Ferarri started giving him problems, he want to Enzo but the attitude he showed made him build GT cars. Market was still open for GT cars and he started his own company.
The company Automobili Lamborghini was started in 1963. He bought 90,000 square meters near Bologna in Santagata and worked with his new factory. The building was made in eight months. He started making new cars and recruited Giotto Bizarrini to design and build the V-12 for the Lamborghini. Ferrucio wanted a GT car and not a race car. He decided to leave the team very soon.
Then Giampaolo Dallara and Giampaolo Stanzani joined Ferrucio and in 1964, Ubaldo Sgarzi started working for the Lamborghini company. He remained in the firm for a very long time.
The Lamborghini 350 GTV prototype was shown to the public on the Turin Auto Show of 1963, and Ferrucio decided to finish this car in a closed section of the Tractor plant. In 1964, the first Ferarri Lamborghini 350 GTs were able to be completed.

Company Founder(s)
In 1916, Ferrucio Lamborghini was in
Italy in a village called Renazzo di Cento, Ferrara. He worked during
World War II as a service engineer where he repaired vehicles. After
the war, Ferrucio began building tractors out of his garage using army
surplus left behind by the Allied Forces. The demand for his products
was high which allowed for him to move into larger facilities. The
Lamborghini production went into burners and air conditioning units in
1959. The businesses became so successful that he became one of the
wealthiest individuals in Italy.
Ferrucio Lamborghini owned a Ferrari. The problems of this car could not be solved by the local repair shop so he took it to Modena and confronted Enzo Ferrari himself. Enzo Ferrari, told Ferrucio that the problem was not with the car but rather with the 'farmer'. After being insulted, Ferrucio decided to build his own GT car.
At SantAgata Bologna, Automobili Lamborghini SpA was founded in early 1963. He used his birth sign, Taurus the bull, as a symbol for his cars. Most of his cars were named in connection with bulls. Giotto Bizzarrini, a former employee of Ferrari was recruited to design and build a V-12 for Lamborghini. Ferrucio wanted a GT car and not a race car, and so the engine was de-tuned to 280 BHP.
In March of 1964, Lamborghini's first production car arrived and was named the 350 GT. The 350 GT was succeeded by the 400 GT and the 400 GT 2+2. When the Miura was introduced, a true super-car, it was named after a famous bull's race, and this practice became a tradition for the House of the Bull.
During its life time, the company has faced some hardships but has been able to pull through due to breath-taking works-of-art such as the Countach, Espada, and Diablo.
In 1973 Ferrucio sold all of his companies and retired to his vineyard in Italy's Umbria province. He died on February 20, 1993 at the age of 77.

Manufacturing Facilities
Sant’Agata Bolognese Italy is the home
of the manufacturing plant for Lamborghini. They have been made there
since 1963. The assembly line is really old. Everything is assembled by
hand and superior hoists cradle bundles of aluminum and carbon fiber.
The Gallardo is assembled in 22 stations while the Murcielago and Murcielago Roadster are built in 10. As the cars pass each assembly step, differentials, electrical systems and various mechanical entrails are pulled from bins and hand-assembled onto the structural frames. Simultaneously, interior and leatherwork pieces are hand-built for the Murcielago and eventually merged with the body, while Gallardo interiors are sourced externally
The Gallardo V10 block is manufactured off-site and shipped to Hungary for finishing before it reaches Italy. The factory builds one to two Murcielagos per day and six to seven Gallardos.
