Audi takes the fight to BMW and Benz – aims for No. 1 position
It seems the Audi
is getting very serious about global domination in the luxury vehicle
segment.
The past few years they have consistently had higher growth
rates then the other two German giants, but now they are going for the
kill. The Audi Group plans on investing €13 billion through 2016 to
continue resolutely maintaining its course for growth as per its
Strategy 2020. Expenditures will primarily address the development of
new products and technologies as well as the construction of new plants.
Nearly €8 billion will be invested in the German sites of Ingolstadt
and Neckarsulm. Audi wants to sell more than two million vehicles
annually by 2020 to become the perennial Number One premium brand in the
world. To this end, Audi hopes that its innovations will attract
customers everywhere to the brand. Last but not least, the company seeks
to appropriately balance financial success with social and
environmental concerns to further consolidate its unsurpassed image
worldwide. Currently Audi is the number one luxury brand in China, and
outsells BMW and Mercedes
vehicles by a huge margin. With the way sales are increasing in India,
it seems they will be the top seller of luxury cars in India as well
very soon.
