Rajesh Pratap Singh took more than an hour and a half to begin his show but the wait, unfortunately, wasn't worth the black and blue collection. A dimly lit stage and excess of smoke added to the poor presentation of what he called 'A Trilogy of Broken Spine, Wolf Pack and Catharsis'.

The idea may have been to break the monotony of the usual happy, colourful spring by using a lot of dark, metallic colours. But the lack of drama was apparent. However, the cynosure of everybody's interest were the headgears - metal pipes done up in Mohawk style fixed to the heads of the models and the stellar steel spines that continued up to their waist.

Collection, colour and patterns: With an attempt to show the transition from a cold, dark winter to a brighter spring, the models first walked in wearing intense black and blue colours, and later shifting to greys and beiges. The futuristic collection showcased shift dresses with simple and straight cuts, tunics with padded shoulders, pleated dress with gold embellishments on shoulders, chiffon white pants with golden tops, fluid drapes that fit perfectly, sheer leggings with a hint of sequin in between, body silhouettes and more. Rajesh's experiment with fabrics was apparent in the way he played with silk, steel, aluminium, gold and silver. He also used a lot of satin to play on the sheen, combining heavy metallic shades to retain a heavy bling.

Tessellation, an interesting pattern that resembles a honeycomb was used extensively on the dresses, giving them a neat and sophisticated look. Besides this, shredded, woven and knits did most of the talking.

Accessories: Headgears are not uncommon to fashion shows but the ones Rajesh used were peculiarly good. Also noticeable were the red glitter lips that shone almost like a digital sparkle.

Guests spotted: Rajesh's good friends Rohit Bal and Rahul Dev sat admiring the collection in the front row, among other fashionistas.
