Freshly manicured nails look flirty and fabulous, only if they had lasted longer. Here are a few tips to help you make your French manicure last longer.

- Apply a clear thin top coat to your French manicured nails every other day to keep your nails shiny. The thin coats will prevent air bubbles that can cause smearing and chipping. Wait for each coat to dry before applying the next coat, and each coat will act as a glue to keep your polish on.

- If the nail polish chips off, immediately fill in the gaps with white nail polish and go over the affected area again with a clear coat.

- While applying lotions or creams to your French manicured toes and fingers, work the moisturiser meticulously into the skin around the nails but not onto the actual nail. Lotions dull the shiny finish of the polish.
- Protect your French-manicured toes in closed-toe shoes by wearing socks under sneakers or stockings under heels. This will help keep the white tips from chipping.

- Carry a bottle of white and clear nail polish in your purse. If you don't have any white polish on hand, use correction fluid.

- Protect your hands from soap and water. If you're doing dishes, use gloves, and if your hands get wet from washing, dry them immediately rather than allowing them to air dry.
