Caring for your Bonsai plants
Nowadays you can spot bonsai plants in many homes, because they look so aesthetic and beautiful. Bonsai as an art form originated in the third century in China. 'Bon' means tray and 'sai' means growing or planting.

They can be grown in trays and pots, indoors as well as outdoors. Flowering plants like pomegranate, plums and apricots too can be cultivated as bonsai. Here are tips on how to take care of your bonsai plant:

The appearance of a bonsai plant totally depends on how much care you take of your plant. You should regularly clean the bonsai with a small brush. Do not leave a plant debris on the soil.

Carefully decide whether you should opt for an indoor or outdoor plant as per the amount of light, humidity and temperature in your home.

Be sure to check for the roots of your bonsai plant before planting it in a shallow tray. Also, trim any unwanted roots.

After placing the plant in the tray, cover it with a layer of soil.

There is no need to add any fertilisers for the plant for the first six months. Before adding fertilisers, make sure you dilute them else they might harm the delicate roots of your bonsai.

After six months you could get wires meant for bonsai plants and wire the stems or the branches for the next four to six months.
