Skoda Auto India posts annual sales growth of 13 percent in 2012

Skoda Auto India, the Indian arm of the Czech automaker Skoda which is wholly owned by the Volkswagen Group has posted a growth of 13 percent in its sales for the year 2012. The carmaker sold 34,678 units during the year 2012 in comparison to 30,741 units sold in the year 2011.

According to Mr. Sudhir Rao Managing Director Skoda Auto India, the company has been able to achieve growth in the year 2012 amid numerous market challenges. He stated that the Skoda Rapid sedan was at the helm of the sales during 2012 and will continue to the carmaker’s prime offering.

Mr. Rao stated that the approach for the year 2013 is to improve the performance of Skoda in all areas of business and enhance the customer experience. The carmaker is also looking at expanding its dealership network as well as the after-sales service in India and already has 89 service outlets to complement the existing 106 sales outlets.
