Detroit Motor Show 2013 concluded
With the most anticipated motor show in the North American
continent coming to an end we will now showcase the cars that had
everybody talking. From luxury to concept, the Detroit Motor Show was
full of some very interesting cars and some hot new launches. Here are a
few of the car that got our hearts racing.
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
We already covered the launch of this car,
but it’s no surprise that this was one of the most important and highly
anticipated launches at the show. With an all new design and new
components, the Stingray is breathtaking, not to mention powerful as
hell with its all-new 6.2 litre LT1 V-8 engine. The first Stingray was
also put up for auction and was sold for well over 1 million US dollars.
Audi RS7
The news of the Audi A7
going track ready in the form of a sports avatar got everyone’s
attention when the Audi RS7 was unveiled. The car gets a tweaked engine
borrowed from the Audi RS6 Avant and now produces 560bhp, while at the
same time reducing fuel consumption.
BMW M6 Gran Sport
This is another car that has had everyone
waiting patiently, and finally it was unveiled in Detroit. It is the
newest addition to the already power packed M line from BMW
and performance figures come in the form of a direct-injected 4.4-litre
twin-turbo V8, which pumps a hefty 560bhp and offers a peak torque of
677Nm. This is one car that is sure to rock your senses.
Toyota Corolla Furia Concept
Although this car will never see
production, it was indeed one of the most popular concept cars at the
show. Essentially it is an exterior study design from the Japanese
makers and we may expect to see hints of this design taken and added to
newer Toyota models.
And if the new upcoming cars from Toyota look anything like this one,
you can be rest assured we will be seeing some very beautiful cars in
the near future coming from Toyota.
Mercedes CLA
Apart from revealing their all new E Class
cars, the German manufacturer also got heads turning in the form of
their CLA, essentially a compact sedan based on the A Class hatchback.
Despite being a compact sedan, the small car will have a large engine in
the form of a turbocharged 1.8-liter inline-four engine that will be
able to churn out 208bhp. Apparently the AMG division has helped with
the engineering, so this could be a pretty neat car from Mercedes. An
India launch however is not expected for a long time.
Cadillac ELR
The legendary American manufacturer has
gone a completely different direction and for the first time unveiled an
electric hybrid car that uses the same powertrain as the Chevrolet Volt.
This special ‘Cady’ is powered by GM’s EREV technology that combines
pure electric drive with an efficient, range-extending 1.4 litre
petrol-powered electric generator that produces 207bhp of total system
power.
Honda Urban SUV
This is the next big thing to hit the automotive world since Ford announced the EcoSport. Apparently Honda
will be launching a very special compact SUV for growing markets, which
means India could very well get another compact SUV in the coming
years. Whatever said and done, the concept look impressive and we can’t
wait to see what the production version looks like.
