Volvo expects 815-820 unit car sales in India in the fiscal 2012-13

Volvo Auto India, the Indian subsidiary of
the Swedish luxury auto manufacturer Volvo is expecting sales of 815-820
units in the fiscal 2012-13 in comparison to its previous estimates of
800 units. The carmaker had sold 326 units in the fiscal 2011-12.
The auto manufacturer has already sold 725 cars in the Indian domestic car market in the period of April to November 2012. According to Mr. Tomas Ernberg Managing Director Volvo Auto India, the 150 percent growth in sales is attributable to the carmaker’s strategic associations during the year.
The automaker which currently has the S80 and the S60 sedans and the XC90 and the XC60 sports utility vehicles in its Indian car portfolio is also planning to launch an entry level car V40 Cross Country in the Indian car market. The current car models are being sold as completely built units imported from Sweden. The luxury car manufacturer targets annual sales of 20,000 units by the year 2020.
The Swedish car manufacturer is also planning to expand its dealership network and plans to open 4 new dealerships in India by February 2013.
