Dec 18, 2012
Renault India, the Indian arm of the French
automobile major Renault is planning to hike prices across its car
portfolio in India by up to 1.5 percent wit effective January 1, 2013.
The rising input costs are being attributed for the price hike so that
part of the burden can be passed on to the customers.
According to Mr. Sumit Sawhney Executive Director (Sales and Marketing) Renault India, high input costs in addition to high inflation and currency fluctuations is stretching its margins and the price hike is thus unavoidable. The up to 1.5 percent increase in car prices will come into effect from January 1, 2013.
The French carmaker currently operates through 75 dealerships across India and plan to increase it to 100 by the end of the fiscal 2012-13. It sells premium car models namely the Pulse hatchback, the Scala mid-size sedan, the Duster SUV, the Fluence premium sedan and the Koleos SUV.
